Scientific Seminar on The Human Microbiome and Cancer

A.L. Lana Sardar Sabrie, a lecturer in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the College of Science, presented a scientific seminar entitled “The Human Microbiome and Cancer.”

During the seminar, she explored the complex relationship between the human microbiome and cancer, highlighting how microbial imbalance may contribute to tumor development and progression through several biological mechanisms, including chronic inflammation, DNA damage, metabolic changes, and immune dysregulation. The seminar also addressed the growing scientific interest in the microbiome and its potential role in improving cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment strategies. In addition, emerging research directions and future possibilities for utilizing microbiome-based approaches in cancer care were discussed
