AI Data Centers: Advantages and Disadvantages

The College of Science – Department of Computer Science at Knowledge University organized a scientific seminar entitled “AI Data Centers: Advantages and Disadvantages.”

The seminar was presented by Dr. Abdulqadir Ismail and focused on the growing importance of data centers and their essential role in supporting the development and advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. During the seminar, it was explained how the rapid growth of AI systems requires powerful infrastructure, high-performance data processing capabilities, and advanced data centers capable of handling large volumes of information.

The seminar also highlighted the main advantages of AI data centers, including their ability to process and analyze large amounts of data efficiently, support machine learning and advanced AI models, provide reliable data storage and management, and create an appropriate infrastructure for conducting innovative technological projects and scientific research.

In addition, the seminar addressed several challenges and disadvantages associated with AI data centers. Particular attention was given to their high energy consumption, the significant costs of construction and operation, the need for continuous and efficient cooling systems, and the potential environmental impact resulting from the rapid expansion of digital infrastructure.

The seminar aimed to enhance the scientific and technical knowledge of the participants and provide a deeper understanding of recent developments in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and data center technologies. It also provided an opportunity for discussion and the exchange of ideas regarding the future of AI infrastructure and its potential technological, economic, and environmental impacts.
